as the inspiration for its story about young lovers torn apart by ethnic gang rivalries in 1950s New York. Helmed by book writer Arthur Laurents -- also the director of the current Broadway revival of
Gypsy
, for which he also wrote the book -- the revival, for the first time, incorporates Spanish into the show's book and songs. The production has a cast of 37 and an orchestra of 30.
