Acting Intensive Acting Intensive
A two day acting intensive for the actor to examine the whole actor. On the first day, the workshop begins with body and voice exercises to experience a range of emotions. As the actors get in touch with their instruments, they then begin to speak from a prepared monologue, which should be age appropriate for the actor and material that the actor can understand. As the actors explore their monologues, they continue to use the voice and body work. This is to allow the actors to come from an organic center, so they are not pushing out the words, but are working in a spontaneous and creative way. After a break, the actors discuss the character's objective in the monologue and breaking down the text into beats, to teach the actor how to rehearse and explore, without focusing on performance. As the actors increase their awareness, they begin speaking the text moment to moment. On day two, the group reads and discusses scenes selected by the instructor from a play or film. Tools that the actors learned from day one will be utilized in the scene work. The actor will learn how to break down a scene into beats and explore the character’s objective. The instructor will rehearse the scene with the actors, again not concentrating on performance but the exploration of character, allowing for free and spontaneous work.
